One of Northern Europe’s leading spice suppliers has made its UK debut with a large Tesco listing.
Santa Maria, part of the Paulig Group, which also owns Mexican food brand Discovery, is rolling out up to 45 products to more than 840 Tesco stores from next week. Among them are filled spice grinders, spice blends and peppers.
Sweden-based Santa Maria has retail and foodservice divisions, and describes itself as “the major supplier of spices and international food concepts in Northern Europe”.
“We feel we are well placed to help transform the UK spice market,” said UK marketing manager Bhavika Thakrar. “Our flavour blends will entice shoppers to browse the fixture and increase average consumption within the spice category.”
Products in the Santa Maria line-up include the Extra Fine Selection of 13 spice mills. In addition to salt and pepper, variants include Chilli Explosion and a blend designed for chicken & steak. The line-up also includes 13 spice blends in flavours such as Mango Curry and Natural Umami.
The launch is being supported with in-store support, digital and Clubcard activity.
