Smile Newshops has added three people to its buying team in the wake of its purchase of the 15-strong JCR News group.
Gail Callery has become impulse buyer for confectionery, soft drinks, snacks, crisps and news. She was previously confectionery buyer for TM Retail.
Martyn Rust, an existing Smile Newshops buyer, becomes non-food category buyer, looking after household, toiletries, cards, gifts and toys.
Jayne Clayton, previously with T&S Stores, has been appointed buying administration manager.
The buying team will oversee the implementation of a new EPoS system. Chief executive Jeremy Symonds said: "We are preparing to launch a head-office-driven EPoS system so our buyers can set up a full programme of product ordering instore."
