Soreen is moving into healthy snacking with a duo of vegan fruit and veg cake bars for kids.

Called Soreen Fruit & Veg-Mmms, they are billed as containing 40% fruit and veg and have launched in two flavours: Blackberry & Beetroot and Orange & Rainbow Carrot.

The bars are individually wrapped and contain under 100 calories per portion. They are completely plant-based and low in saturated fat.

They contained 50% less sugar than rival brands, said Soreen, making them a “healthier and nutritious snack” for children.

They have rolled into Tesco’s bakery aisles, as well as The Co-op and Ocado (rsp £1.75/5x30g).

“We know how hard it can be for parents to find quick and healthy snacks for their kids, especially ones that can include fruit and veg, as well as deliver on that essential taste test,” said Soreen MD, Mark Simester.

Its head of marketing Liz Jacobs added the individually wrapped bars were ideal for lunchboxes for children’s lunchboxes – especially those needing to follow a dairy-free diet.
