Stans Superstore is once again claiming to sell the cheapest fuel in Britain.
The Oswestry-based independent retailer has slashed the price of unleaded petrol from 113.9p to just 111.9p 6p less than the average cost for unleaded fuel. It is the third summer in a row that Stans has sought to undercut the market, after slashing prices in September 2008 and July 2009.
"We are thrilled to be selling the lowest-priced petrol in the country," said director Andrew Faulks. "We have done this to thank our customers for their loyal support to us and also to attract new customers, not only to our forecourt store, but to our superstore."
The price has been dropped to coincide with a voucher offer currently being run by Stans. If customers spend £30 on fuel, they will receive £5 off a £40 shop at Stans.
The new prices had already resulted in an additional 29,000 litres of petrol being sold compared with previous weeks, Faulks said. "Last year we underwent a major extension to the store and it is now 26,000 sq ft," he added. "We are looking to run another new initiative for our customers to encourage healthy eating."
