Products contaminated by illegal dye Sudan 1 continue to be found overseas with cases now being reported in India, following reports last week of cases in Australia and China.

However, media reports also indicate that Sudan 1 has been detected in chilli powder in India for the past 25 years and the law does not prevent manufacturers from selling their products.

In the UK the FSA last updated its list on March 8 and it has not announced any further additions to the list since. The FSA’s UK list now totals 580.
