Alpro UK & Ireland commercial director Sue Garfitt has been promoted to the role of vice president of customer development at the dairy alternative brand.
Garfitt took the step up earlier this month after three years in the commercial director post. She succeeds Sven Lamote in her new role and takes charge of sales in 54 countries, heading up a global team of more than 200 to secure new opportunities for the brand worldwide.
“We have a great opportunity to build Alpro even further and I look forward to the challenge of helping to introduce our brand to even more shoppers around the world,” Garfitt said.
“My focus has always been on building strategic partnerships with major retail customers to ensure that both the plant-based category and the Alpro brand get the attention and visibility in-store they deserve.
“This collaborative approach has driven successful sales growth for both parties and I look forward to ensuring this continues in the UK and beyond,” she added.
Garfitt has experience working for the New York Bakery brand, Britvic and Burton’s. She has overseen a period of consistent double-digit growth during the past three years, and crowned The Grocer’s fastest-growing fmcg brand in 2016. Sales in the UK rose by 12% to £172.5m in the most recent financial year [Nielsen 52 w/e 17 June 2017].
Alpro has not yet announced Garfitt’s replacement as commercial director. A spokesman said: “We hope to make an announcement in the near future.”
