Australian-style sushi-to-go brand Rolled is set to open its second venue, in Manchester’s Arndale Centre, following high demand over the summer.
The new venue will open just nine weeks after Rolled’s debut at The Trafford Centre, with expansion arriving “much faster than anticipated”, CEO Adam Miller told The Grocer.
The brand sells Aussie-style handheld sushi that consumers can eat on the go. There are six options to choose from, including spicy tuna, crispy chicken, and Bondi roll, each priced at around £3.50.
“We received loads of requests to open up in a more convenient and accessible location,” said Miller. “Despite getting site one up and running with limited capital, we realised we could actually make site two work faster than anticipated, so we decided to just go for it.
“When we opened in The Trafford Centre, our first kiosk was very much a proof of concept, giving us an opportunity to see if the British would be as obsessed with this type of sushi as Aussies are. It turns out they are.
“That gave us the confidence we needed to roll out the concept and opening our second venue in the city centre was a no-brainer.”
Director of Manchester Arndale David Allinson described the brand as “the perfect grab-and-go option” for those commuting or working in Manchester city centre.
“Fusion food continues to be popular and so this unique Australian-style sushi concept will make a fantastic addition to our diverse restaurant and takeaway lineup.”
The brand plans to expand beyond Manchester in 2025, with six more venues planned for the coming year.
“Now we know the concept works, there’s a real opportunity to expand in 2025 and we’ve already shortlisted some additional sites,” said Miller.
“For the rest of this year, our focus is on really establishing the two kiosks we’ve got and driving home the message that hand rolls are a healthy and accessible alternative to a sandwich.”
