Tesco has kicked off a two-week promotion of Thai fruit and veg.
The push was launched at its West Cromwell Street store in London by chairman David Reid, accompanied by the Thai ambassador, representatives of the Thai commerce ministry and the chairman of Tesco Lotus. The Healthy & Tasty from Thailand promotion is running in 70 stores and shoppers can sample products include mangoes, rambutans, lychees and dragon fruit, with trained demonstrators on hand to explain the produce.
A customer information booklet has been published and a competition to win a holiday to Thailand is running on packs of Thai produce. A second holiday is open to Tesco staff.
"Thai food is becoming increasingly popular in the UK and it is great to link with Tesco to showcase the very best our country has to offer," said Thai Trade Centre executive director Banjongjitt Angsusingh.
