An increase in Sunday trading at stores involved in last weekend's bomb scares helped Tesco claw back lost sales, the retailer said.

Fourteen Tesco stores - including a couple of Extras and an Express - were forced to close last Saturday after letters were sent to Tesco HQ claiming explosive devices had been planted in them.

Shoppers were not deterred from returning to stores, said a spokesman. "Sunday sales were up. We also saw better-than-usual sales at nearby stores." He added that reports of Tesco losing £15m were "way over the top".
