British charcuterie maker The Bath Pig is pushing further into the booming meat snacks market with six new snack sticks.
The range, which rolls out from late February, comprises chorizo, spicy chorizo, salami and spicy salami, along with two chicken-based variants: Chick Stick and Chicorizo. Each 20g stick has an rsp of £1.50. There are no listings confirmed yet, but The Bath Pig is targeting multiples, as well as the pub market.
“Like our other chorizo and salami-based products, the sticks are produced to the highest standards and are already Red Tractor approved,” said co-director Ian Cundell. “We hope that the new range will be a tempting proposition.”
Grocery sales of meat snacks are up 9.4% to £128.7 on volumes up 16.7% [Nielsen 52 w/e 10 October 2015]. The category is dominated by Peperami and Mattesons, which account for a collective 78%, but a number of challenger brands, such as Cruga, Texas Joe’s and Jack Link’s, are in high double-digit growth.
