Tomato brand Cirio is launching what it claims are the UK’s first passatas in PET packaging.

Cirio will sell its La Classica and Napoletana passatas in 540g PET bottles (rsp: £1.25) in Sainsbury’s. Research had found a demand for packaging that had the visual cues of glass but was lighter and tougher, said the company.

Cirio recently launched Passata Rustica in a twin-pack of 350g jars (rsp: £1.45) in response to calls for smaller sizes.
