Two Chicks has developed a high-protein bagged snack containing egg white.
Chirps are made from rice flour and 22% egg white, and come in three flavours: sour cream & onion, sea salt & cracked black pepper, and spicy jalapeño. Each 28g bag (rsp: £1.49) contains about 9g of protein, which is 15% of the recommended daily intake, and 110 calories. A 25g bag of potato crisps typically has 1.5g of protein.
“We wanted a snack with the bite of a crisp that was high in protein and lower in fat and carbohydrate,” said co-founder Anna Richey.
Two Chicks rolled out packaged liquid egg white to the UK in 2007, and in 2012 launched an egg white omelette mix.
