Vimto looks set to expand into energy drinks.
Owner Nichols has applied to register the name ‘Vimto Energy’ as a trademark with the International Property Office under class 32, accounting for energy drinks and sports drinks.
When approached by The Grocer, a spokeswoman for Nichols said the business was “committed to delivering long-term sustainable category growth by offering consumers best-in-class products which meet their evolving needs”.
“We continuously review our range in line with consumer trends and customers’ requirements and look forward to sharing details of any new future launches at an appropriate time,” she said.
It comes after Vimto this month unveiled new-look bottles for its squash range, with the aim of highlighting the brand’s healthy hydration messaging.
Vimto certainly isn’t the only soft drinks brand hoping to profit from a segue into energy drinks.
AG Barr brand Rubicon last year unveiled a trio of Raw Energy drinks cans in Orange & Mango, Raspberry & Blueberry, and Cherry & Pomegranate flavours.
Energy drinks brand Boost, meanwhile, expanded its range with a trio of Monster-style 500ml cans in May.
