Tesco comes out at the top of the chart this week with Sainsbury less than one percentage behind at number two.
Activity in Tesco is focused upon gondola ends and is particularly strong in the alcoholic drinks and health and beauty categories.
Morrisons is the only other fascia to move up this week improving by just one position to take number four.
The multiple has a good selection of soft drinks on promotion and makes good use of multibuy offers.
In the category chart there is very little change in terms of positioning with the top three remaining unchanged from last week. However, there are now just three percentage points separating positions one and two, down from six last week.
Snacks secures an upward move and is clearly supported by the multitude of promotions on Walkers.
After being ousted from the top spot last week, Walkers surges ahead to reclaim the top spot forcing Nestlé down to second place.
There is, however, very little between the two brands, both of which have multiple promotions with buy-one-get-one-free offers and other price promotions dominating. Walkers uses a number of floor stacks and gondola ends throughout the stores.
Elsewhere in the chart, three other brands move up including Stella Artois, Pringles and Heinz, while Coca-Cola, Kellogg’s and Princes all move down the chart.
There are just two new entries, these being Sunny D and Pepsi.
In the own label category chart, frozen continues to take the lead in the number one spot while household becomes more dominant and moves up to second place.
