Heineken to buy Rechitsa brewery
AMSTERDAM: Heineken has announced it is to acquire the Rechitsa brewery, giving the company 24% of the Belarus lager market. Heineken will invest €6.4m in the share capital of Rechitsa, giving it a 51% share in the company. In 2007, Rechitsa sold 285,000hl, with a national production share of 8%. The brewery has a capacity of 525,000hl and employs 588 staff. "This transaction underlines our confidence in the Belarus beer market," said Nico Nusmeier, Heineken regional president for central and eastern Europe.
