FrieslandCampina is supporting the recent launch of its Yazoo Yogurt Smoothie with a £3m push including a prime-time TV ad.
The Unbelievably Smooth advertising campaign went live at the weekend and made its debut between The X Factor and The Jonathan Ross Show.
The ad begins with footage of a family enjoying a picnic in a park, when the father is asked by his son how the drinks are made. Animated characters demonstrate how the product’s key ingredients - yoghurt, fruit and oats – are blended to create a smooth consistency.
The campaign, which runs until next spring, also includes radio and PR alongside competitions and social media activity that kicks off on 14 November.
“Consumers love smoothies because they’re tasty, convenient and nutritious, however products on the market today are typically fruit-based which means there’s a huge opportunity in the marketplace for something different – and that taps into the health benefits we know dairy can offer,” said FrieslandCampina UK managing director Tracey Barney.
Stocked in Morrisons, Tesco and Co-op, the smoothie is made with fat-free yogurt, contains 116 calories per 200ml and is available in Strawberry & Raspberry and Mango & Pineapple flavours.
