Young’s Seafood is set to further expand its Gastro range with the launch of four new fishcake and fish finger lines.
Gastro, which has seen sales grow by 31% to £57m over the past year according to Young’s, will add tempura battered chunky cod fish fingers to its line-up in October alongside new spicy salmon & black bean mini fishcakes; salmon red pepper & mozzarella mini fishcakes; and smoked haddock arancini-style mini fishcakes (rsp: £3 each).
The fish fingers have been picked up by both Tesco and Asda, and boast larger portion sizes to appeal to adults and older families who enjoy the gastro-pub favourite. The fishcake variants will be sold by Asda and are ideal for starters, lunch sharing and tapas, said Young’s marketing director Yvonne Adam.
“Gastro is the nation’s favourite premium brand in frozen fish, and building on this success, our latest inspiration is straight from restaurant menus,” she said.
“Tapas is trending in UK restaurants and our mini fishcakes are an ideal choice for making tapas at home, or for sharing, entertaining or as starters. We want to inspire people to love fish and our latest Gastro recipes will create even more opportunities and occasions for people to enjoy fish at home.”
