The consumer
I really like these meals. I tried the chicken tikka masala & rice and the chicken vegetable noodles and both were scrummy. The chicken pieces were easy to chew and the flavours were not too strong, not like the hot curries my dad eats. I like to eat the same things as my parents so it is nice to have child-friendly versions of grown-up meals. I would have liked a bit more sauce with the tikka masala meal and the portions could be a bit bigger. Four stars (out of five)

The retailer
I think these meals will prove a hit with both mums and kids. Because the name Annabel Karmel is already out there with the target audience, mums will buy into it by default. And, because the meals deliver on both taste and quality, they are almost certain to purchase again. I gave them to a colleague's son, who is not a great eater, and he loved them and ate his dinner in record time. The packaging is a little busy, but it catches your eye. Four stars

The Grocer
As you can see from Anabel above, my kids loved these meals. The range brings a welcome change to a category littered with the same old spag-bol and cottage pie recipes. It also gives kids the chance to feel 'grown up' by copying dishes their parents are likely to already enjoy. The meals tick all the health boxes, as expected from this brand, eliminating the guilt factor of serving your offspring ready meals. Anything that helps to develop kids' palates has got to be positive - nobody likes a fussy eater. Five stars
