Anthony Fuller, chairman of brewer Fuller, Smith & Turner, is to retire from his post next year.
Fuller, who has been chairman since 1982 and non-executive chairman since 2002, said at the group's agm that he would step down next year but would stay on the board for a further three years as a non-executive director.
Fuller joined Fuller, Smith & Turner in 1962 as a management trainee. He was awarded a CBE in 1990 and has also held a number of chairmanship roles at brewing associations, including the Independent Family Brewers of Britain and the Brewers' Society.
His decision to step down has prompted a reshuffle of Fuller's senior management team. Fuller will be replaced by chief executive Michael Turner, who will maintain his responsibilities for strategy and overall management of the company. Turner joined the brewer's wine division in 1978 and since then has held a number of roles, including wine director, marketing director and MD. He took up his current role in 2002.
The group has also promoted beer and brands director John Roberts to MD of Fuller's Beer Company. Roberts, who is currently responsible for Fuller's Beer Company's production and marketing, joined the brewer in 1996. Previously, he held marketing and sales positions with Britvic, United Biscuits and Scottish Courage.
Retail director Simon Emeny has also been promoted to the position of MD of Fuller's Inns. He joined Fuller's from Bass in 1996 and is responsible for managed and tenanted inns and hotels.
Both will take up their new roles with immediate effect to allow Turner to prepare for his new role.
Anthony Fuller said: "I would like to congratulate Simon and John on these well-deserved promotions and for their part in the group's success."?
