What was your first-ever job? When I was 14 I started working in the local chip shop. I started experimenting with food started back then from deep fried Mars bars to battered scones dipped in curry sauce!
What was the first music single you bought? An Ace of Base tune was one of the first, I used to make up a dance routine with girls who lived on my street.
How do you describe your job to your mates? I create systems and procedures to assure we manufacture to the highest quality and food safety standard. It's also fantastic to be at the fore of our NPD team, developing exciting new recipes and packaging.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Being able to create a real, sustainable quality culture. Nothing beats those customer letters telling you how good your product is one of the best is from an older gent to tell me our Plain Chocolate Ginger biscuits are better than sex!
What is the least rewarding part? A moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips! You would think I would become immune to the temptation of our biscuits. After six years at Border I'm still addicted.
What is your motto in life? Make the best of what you have rather than focusing on what you don't.
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? A swanky tax-free company car with a no-limits fuel card.
What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? A recent embarrassing moment: when trying to explain to an AA man that part of what might be wrong with my car was the red light on my dashboard. It turned out to be (as he very kindly explained and demonstrated) the handbrake light. D'oh!
Do you have any phobias? Water needless to say a spot of coasteering in the Isle of Man (jumping off rocks into the sea) shook that one out of me!
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be and why? James Corden for the giggle factor.
If you could change one thing in the grocery industry what would it be? I would like to see in-store sampling become more affordable.
What luxury would you have on your desert island? A luxury boat with a waiter service, DJ and spa.
What animal best reflects your personality and why? My better half would say I'm like a pheasant all the panic, panic, panic motion when there seems to be no need.
