Here’s a great example of an established brand successfully making the leap into new sectors. The 2017 launch of B Ready - a wafer sandwich containing Nutella hazelnut spread and puffed wheat - has so far racked up £11m, allowing Nutella to offset cooling spreads sales and deliver £5.7m growth. “Brand awareness is at an all-time high,” says Ferrero customer development director Levi Boorer. “Putting brands of significant scale, heritage and trust like Nutella in new and appropriate categories reduces risk for retailers.”
