Asda has unveiled a major expansion of its Scratch Cook portfolio, adding seven variants of frozen, prepared vegetables and herbs.
Originally launched with three products - Chopped White Onion, Sliced Mixed Peppers and Chopped Spinach - the line-up has been expanded with Chopped Garlic, Chopped Ginger, Chopped Chillis, Chopped Coriander, Sliced Red Onion, Butternut Squash Chunks, and Sweet Potato Chunks.
Pack sizes vary between 75g and 1.3kg, with prices at £1 or £1.50.
While the range taps concerns about waste, its main aim was to provide a “perfect way for the health-conscious customer seeking convenience; the customer who likes to cook from scratch but doesn’t have the time to prep,” said Asda.
It is accompanied in freezers by five new Steam Bags - including Pea Risotto and Wholegrain Rice - which join two existing offerings (rsp: £2/800g).
