Asda took another win this week, with its High Wycombe branch beating the runner-up by one point. The store scored well on checkout service, with our shopper describing the member of staff there as “friendly and efficient”. On the shop floor, employees were also “helpful and friendly” and opened up boxes they were restocking when our shopper asked for an item she could not find. Our shopper also found the store to have an “easy to navigate” layout.
Tesco Abingdon was described as “well thought out and logical” with employees who were “happy and keen to help” including one staff member on fresh produce our shopper found “polite and helpful… he was delightful!” There was a lot of restocking being carried out, as one might expect on a Friday evening.
Morrisons in Reigate featured displays that were “not well stocked”. The shopper felt the store was “generally a bit untidy”. Shop floor service saved the day when a bakery employee went to the other end of the store to find a product and then restocked the empty shelf straight away.
Sainsbury’s in Canvey Island suffered from the fact it had nine out-of-stock or not-stocked products. The shopper asked several employees for items and none of them did further checks on the out-of-stock items.
The “very busy” Waitrose store in Wymondham had an issue with blockages to aisles - “you couldn’t walk two minutes without a trolley getting in the way”. The “chaotic” store also scored low on checkout as the employee “did not say please or thank you”.
