Packs of Frosties cereal have been disappearing from the supermarkets amid delays to packaging arriving at Kellogg’s Manchester factory.
At the time of writing, all Frosties cereal SKUs were out of stock online in Tesco and Morrisons. In Asda, meanwhile, only the 500g boxes were available.
A spokeswoman for Kellogg’s said it had “recently experienced some stock challenges on Frosties, due to short delays getting the packaging we needed to our Manchester factory to box up the product”.
“This was quickly resolved, and shelves should be restocked with Frosties by the end of the week,” she said.
Consumers have taken to Twitter over recent days to complain about the absence of the cereal in stores.
“Where’s Tony gone?” tweeted one shopper, claiming he had been to “three different Sainsbury’s stores” to find the cereal amid the “drought”.
Another shopper tweeted that the cereal was absent from her local Asda and Tesco.
The Grocer has approached the retailers for comment.
It comes after Kellogg’s last month opened a new food innovation centre at its Trafford Park factory in Manchester.
The Culinary and Sensory Centre includes a packaging design lab, in which the business will trial new sustainable packaging options as part of its commitment to transitioning to 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging by the end of 2025.
Kellogg’s isn’t the only fmcg giant facing availability issues. Over recent weeks, Mars and Mondelez have also struggled to supply lines of core confectionery and biscuits.
