Biscuit retailer Biscuiteers has launched a crowdfunding initiative to fund its international expansion and growth in online sales.
The company is working with Crowdcube to raise an unspecified sum “invest for accelerated growth”.
Biscuiteers owns two London shops and their hand-made iced biscuits are stocked by retailers including John Lewis and Selfridges, but online sales account currently for 53% of turnover.
It named direct to customer sales as a “main focus for future growth”, having already racked up £3m annual turnover since launching in 2007.
The company sells its biscuits as an alternative gift option to flowers and has 100,000 customers in 99 countries.
“We decided to crowd fund as our customers are very much at the heart of our business and we wanted to give them a chance to be part of our biscuit journey,”said founder and MD Harriet Hastings. “The funds raised will be used to invest in international expansion, manufacturing improvements and marketing.”
