Westons Cider has added a new ‘Signature Vintage’ cider to its Henry Westons brand.
The drink (6.8% abv) was “slowly matured in traditional aged oak vats and carefully blended for a complex mouthfeel and smooth finish”, said Westons, and was medium dry.
It ”boasts notes of caramel, butterscotch and vanilla”, the brand added. It rolls out into Tesco this month in 500ml bottles (rsp: £2) and 6x500ml multipacks (rsp: £9.50) .
The NPD ”will enable us to further excite, engage and challenge crafted cider shoppers across the UK with the product’s distinctive taste profile, complex mouthfeel and lower abv”, added Westons head of marketing Sally McKinnon.
The launch comes on the back of a solid year for the Henry Westons brand, whose off-trade sales surged £4.7m (9.1%) to £55.7m over the 52 weeks to 20 April 2019 [Nielsen].
It comes as Westons commercial director Geoff Bradman recently departed the company, The Grocer revealed last week, after seven years of service.
