Troubled Manchester retailer Love Saves the Day looks set to bounce back three months after going into voluntary receivership.
The retailer was forced to close the doors of its two Manchester city centre stores in October after running into what it described as a “complicated situation over detailed and complex accounts”.
A new company, Stitch Solutions, set up by a consortium of six individuals including former owners Beckie and ex-Simply Red drummer Chris Joyce, has bought the trading name and is now set to reopen its Deansgate store in the next few weeks.
The wine merchant, fine food retailer and café bar opened in 1999 and had a turnover of £450,000 by the time it closed. In June it appeared to be trading successfully, after Beckie Joyce told The Grocer about her plans to go down the franchise route with two further outlets in Manchester.
Meanwhile, Out of This World - one of The Grocer’s Ones to Watch retailers outside our Top 50 list of independent chains - has opened one of the UK’s largest organic supermarkets in Gosforth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The 3,000 sq ft store is twice the size of the co-operative’s previous store in the area.
Out of this World is also set to open its fourth store in York in May.
