Jacob’s has added a duo of ‘street food-inspired’ snacks to its Mini Cheddars line-up.
The limited-edition snacks – in Classic Cheese Pizza and Bangin’ Cheese Burger flavours – have rolled into Morrisons and Tesco in 6x23g multipacks (rsp: £1.50)
They will hit shelves at other multiples, as well as convenience and wholesale stores, on 20 June.
The NPD would attract younger shoppers seeking “exciting, modern flavours”, claimed the brand.
Leighton Wall, marketing director of savoury at owner Pladis UK&I, said the snacks would accelerate growth and “unlock new sales opportunities for our retail customers, particularly around the lunchtime treat occasion”.
Wall said he was “confident” they would replicate similar success to its limited-edition Red Leicester flavour, which “became a permanent fixture in our core arsenal after an incredible sales performance” and was now “our second biggest-selling flavour”.
Pladis anticipated the snacks would be “received with open arms by established and loyal Mini Cheddars fans, whilst also inspiring younger adults seeking trend-led flavour variants to buy into the brand”, he added.
It comes after Pladis has spent recent months making concerted efforts to expand its Jacob’s Mini Cheddars range into new flavours and formats.
Over the past 12 months, it has launched two healthier versions of its core cheesy biscuits: a “lighter” spin-off called Crunchlets and a non-HFSS version with 30% less fat called Nibblies.
In April 2021, Pladis rolled out a trio of Mini Cheddars flavours inspired by different regions of Britain in a bid to lure younger shoppers to the brand.
