Morrisons is trialling a premium fresh cream cake counter in Kirkstall in Yorkshire, as part of a wider revamp of Market Street.

The cakes are 99p each or four for £3.60, and are displayed in a separate counter next to its cheaper, boxed cream cakes. The products include banoffee pie, sponge cake and blueberry & raspberry tart.

Last December, The Grocer revealed Morrisons’ plans to add hot sandwiches, barbecue food and a ‘create your own pizza’ offer to its Market Street range of fresh foods. It plans to revamp its fish offer and introduce new ready meals this April.
