Oat-based milk drink Oatly is to make its debut in chilled with the launch of its first fresh variant.
Oatly Fresh (rsp: £1.69 for a one-litre pack) has a shelf life of four weeks and, once opened, will keep fresh in the fridge for up to six days.
Supplier Framptons hopes to replicate the 250% volume growth the Oatly brand has achieved in the ambient aisle. Tim Snook, MD at Oatly importer Wassen International, said Oatly was in a position to offer consumers “a chilled choice when they’re looking for healthy options.”
Oatly Fresh will roll out to 550 Tesco stores this month. Oatly long-life products are already sold in Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrisons, Asda and Booths stores.
Oatly’s move follows the launch in April of oat and rice milk drinks by the Worthernshaw’s Freedom brand. Previously, only frozen desserts were sold under the brand.
