Smoothies brand Savse is championing a ‘heritage’ vegetable with the launch of its latest variant, Purple Carrot.
Available from 6 July, the new flavour contains 43% carrot juice and comes packaged in 250ml bottles (rsp: £2.49). It will be on shelf in Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, with major supermarkets to follow.
Purple carrots – common on the UK until around the early 17th century – were an undervalued ingredient and the ideal base for a smoothie because they were “much earthier, crunchier and less watery” than the common orange type, claimed Savse founder Guka Tavberidze.
“We were so excited when we discovered the purple carrot that we knew we had to create a new smoothie, celebrating the true roots of the carrot and keeping it natural for our consumers,” he added.
Currently running its £2m No B.U.L.L. poster campaign across major cities, Savse is expanding its presence on the Co-op’s shelves, with listings for its 250ml bottles of Super Green and Super Orange variants in more than 200 stores, following a trial in just eight. The brand’s 750ml Super Green has secured a place in 500 branches, while the 750ml Super Blue is now in more than 250 Co-op outlets.
Meanwhile, Budgens is rolling out Super Green, Super Blue and Super Orange across its estate, including Londis stores.
