Uber Eats has noted the successful use of star power in the ad campaigns of its rival, Just Eat, and has landed two giants of its own.
The ads aren’t musical in nature – though Cher, in the first one, hums a bit of her hit ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’. Then she orders a time machine via Uber Eats, accidentally travels back to the 1680s and is burned as a witch for being “both young and old at the same time”.
Meanwhile, Javier Bardem, in another world domination-seeking baddie role, tires of his position and tucks into some sushi in front of Happy Days instead.
Both ads are funny and fresh – reminders that it’s not enough merely to bag a big celeb: you have to come up with something special for them to do, too.
