Swiss dairy supplier Emmi is to bring Italian dessert brand Rachelli to the UK.
Rachelli, launched in Milan in 1935 and best known for its ice creams, will make its UK debut with a fresh look and two “completely new” chilled tiramisu variants: Classico and Amaretto (rsp: £4.75/2x90g).
Classico contains Sardinian ladyfingers soaked in coffee and marsala wine, layered with mascarpone. The Amaretto tiramisu comprises amaretto-soaked ladyfingers, layered with mascarpone and amaretti biscuit pieces.
Both variants will roll into Waitrose on 26 April.
The posh puds – aimed at “adventurous foodies” – were the first products in a two-year pipeline of NPD from Rachelli, said Emmi UK head of marketing for desserts Amanda Burningham.
Rachelli’s UK debut this month would offer classic Italian recipes with a “slight modern spin”, Burningham added. There was a “huge space for branded premium Italian desserts”.
