The pods offered ‘a convenient no-fuss way’ to consume matcha

PerfectTed has debuted a three-strong range of matcha pods.

The brand, which also makes matcha green tea energy drinks and flavoured matcha powders, said the new Nespresso-compatible pods would offer “a convenient, no-fuss way” to enjoy matcha drinks.

Pods in OG Matcha, Salted Caramel and Vanilla Bean have launched via DTC and Holland & Barrett (rsp: from £5.99/10 pack). OG Matcha has hit Sainsbury’s, with OG Matcha and Vanilla Bean landing on Ocado.

OG Matcha and Vanilla Bean will also launch in Tesco in November.

Salted Caramel was offered as a “sweet and indulgent” drink, whilst Vanilla Bean was “creamy and smooth”, said PerfectTed.

OG Matcha, meanwhile, was made from ceremonial grade matcha and “packed with earthy goodness”.

It comes after PerfectTed added matcha powders in flavours including Summer Berry and Creamy Chocolate earlier this year.

“Our mission has always been to make matcha as accessible as possible,” said PerfectTed co-founder Marisa Poster. “By introducing matcha in new formats – whether it’s our flavoured powders or now our Nespresso compatible pods – we’re making it easier for everyone to enjoy the incredible benefits of matcha in a way that fits into their daily routine.”

Founded by Poster alongside brothers Teddie and Levi Levenfiche in 2021, PerfectTed has grown quickly in UK retail, with listings in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Holland & Barrett.

The brand claims to have in excess of 15,000 distribution points across more than 30 countries.

It has the backing of Dragon’s Den star and entrepreneur Steven Bartlett, who has twice invested since the brand appeared on the BBC show in March 2022.

Barlett pumped a fresh £1m into PerfectTed in August this year via his Flight Fund VC firm.
