Pladis is expanding its McVitie’s cake bar range with a duo of chocolate-covered brownies.
It said the NPD, called McVitie’s Moments Brownies, were the category’s first fully chocolate-enrobed brownies.
They will launch in two flavours – Double Choc Fudge and Creamy White Choc – each comprising a chocolate brownie topped with either milk chocolate ganache or white chocolate cream and coated in milk chocolate.
They will hit Tesco, Asda and Morrisons this month (rsp: £1.85).
Pladis billed the launch its “most indulgent yet”, with head of marketing Claire Hooper adding indulgence was a “key trend” within the category.
“We’re well positioned to respond quickly to shopper trends, that’s why we’ve gone beyond typical cake bars with this NPD, offering consumers an indulgent treat which ticks the box when they want to treat themselves,” she added.
It comes as the cakes and biscuits manufacturer had confirmed a number of coronavirus cases at its South Wigston, Leicestershire site.
Pladis said it had been “actively engaging with local health authorities who are confident that our site is taking every measure to ensure robust hygiene and social distancing measures are in place” and would “continue to work closely with local authorities and follow all guidance laid out by the government”.
