ABP has expanded the Dopsu frozen plant-based range it launched in 2021 with two new lines.
Dopsu No-Beef Balls and No-Beef Mince are available now in Asda (rsp: £2.50), alongside Dopsu’s existing No-Duck Pieces.
The brand said it expanded the pea protein-based range in response to customer demand.
According to research for the brand by OnePoll, almost two-thirds (62%) of consumers are reducing or looking to cut back on the amount of animal protein they eat. However, it was found that classic dishes like lasagne (40%) and spaghetti bolognese (39%) remained some of the top dishes loved by Brits.
Dopsu said the range had also achieved “unprecedented” levels of satisfaction in independent consumer taste tests conducted by Wirral Sensory Services, when the brand was first launched.
“It is clear that demand for meat alternatives is not waning as more and more consumers switch to a flexitarian diet,” said Abigail Flynn, brand manager at Dopsu.
“The new listing in Asda for the two additions to the Dopsu range demonstrates the relevance of our NPD as consumers seek plant-based alternatives to some of their favourite meat-based dishes.”
The launch is being accompanied by a marketing programme and a partnership with brand ambassador and TV foodie Fred Sirieix, to help communicate the range’s benefits.
“Dopsu’s range cooks and tastes just like meat, so people can create their favourite meals without compromising on a meat lovers’ experience. It is affordable, convenient, and helps to reduce wastage for diners who are turning to foods that fit with a more sustainable lifestyle,” Flynn added.
The original range of No-Beef Pieces, No-Chicken Pieces, No-Duck Pieces, and No-Pork Pieces is available at other major retailers and on Amazon Fresh.
