Salman Amin joined Pladis as CEO in 2019

Salman Amin has left his post as CEO at McVitie’s owner Pladis with immediate effect.

The Turkish snacking giant announced the move in an internal memo on Monday and told employees that Amin stepped down for personal reasons, The Grocer has learned.

CFO Sridhar Ramamurthy and European MD Tim Brett have jointly taken the reins on an interim basis until a permanent replacement can be appointed, according to the statement from Pladis chairman Murat Ülker.

Pladis has confirmed the changes to The Grocer.

A spokesman said: “Salman Amin has left Pladis for personal reasons with immediate effect. We can confirm Sridhar Ramamurthy, chief financial officer, and Tim Brett, managing director Europe and developing markets, have assumed temporary oversight of Pladis.”

The group did not offer a timescale for when a new CEO would be appointed or if an official recruitment process was underway.

Amin joined Pladis as CEO in early 2019 after working as the global chief operating officer of the commercial division at US multinational SC Johnson. He was also previously chief marketing officer at PepsiCo, where he spent 17 years, including as president for UK & Ireland.

Amin’s departure follows a shake-up of the Pladis leadership team earlier this year in a bid for further growth.

The group redrew the boundaries of its regional businesses to operate a Turkey & Central Asian unit and a Europe & emerging markets division.

The latter is headed up by Brett, who joined Pladis in May 2022 with more than 30 years’ experience in fmcg, including a 24-year spell with The Coca-Cola Company.

Ramamurthy was appointed Pladis CFO in 2019 after holding finance roles at Unilever for three decades.

Pladis reported record revenues in the UK of £984.4m in 2023, according to its most recent set of Companies House accounts.
