Unilever has ramped up its Simple facial skincare offer by tapping the trend for beauty serums.
The three-strong Simple Booster Serum range (rsp: £7.99/30ml) comprises 3% Hyaluronic Acid + B5, which promises to lock in hydration, and 10% Vitamins C+E+F, which “enhances the skin’s glow, protects it against environmental aggressors, and moisturises and strengthens the skin barrier”.
The final SKU, 10% Vitamin B3 Niacinamide, is designed to regulate production of sebum (an oily, waxy substance) to prevent acne and help strengthen the skin barrier.
Each product is suitable for sensitive skin, vegan, and has its benefits clearly outlined on-pack – “making it easy for shoppers to select the one that suits their skincare need” said Unilever.
The launch came in response to “a significant rise in demand for beauty serums, with an 8.5% increase in the past year alone” the supplier added. “This reflects a new generation of consumers, who are more knowledgeable about skincare ingredients and their efficacy, as well as a booming self-care market driven by the pandemic.”
However, more than half of skincare shoppers found “premium serums often come with too high of a price tag and complex language” Unilever said. Simple Booster Serum would “supercharge shoppers’ skincare routines at a more affordable price point”.
The lineup is available now from Boots.com. It will roll into Boots stores from 10 March, followed by Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Ocado and Waitrose in the summer.
